San Fernando Valley access control by building type

Every building asks something different of its doors. These are the setups we are asked about most in the Valley.

Studios, stages and media offices

Lot gates, stage doors, edit bays and equipment cages, with credentials for crews and vendors that expire when a production wraps.

Office buildings

Lobby, suite and stair doors, after hours schedules and badge printing for Ventura Boulevard, Brand Boulevard and Burbank offices.

Multi-tenant commercial buildings

Shared entries, elevators and parking with each tenant managing its own users, and one admin view for the property manager.

Manufacturing and aerospace suppliers

Restricted production zones, shift and contractor credentials, gates, docks and audit trails for plants in Chatsworth, Sylmar, Valencia and Palmdale.

Medical offices

Patient entries, records rooms, medication storage and staff only corridors for medical groups, clinics and dental suites.

What San Fernando Valley buildings need from access control

Studios and media companies

Burbank Economic Development describes the Media District as home to The Walt Disney Company world headquarters, Warner Bros. Studios, ABC Television and many other media companies (source). Production and post production sites need lot and stage doors that open for the right crew on the right day, equipment cages and edit bays locked to named people, and vendor credentials that end on their own.

Offices and multi-tenant buildings

Office towers on Ventura Boulevard, Brand Boulevard in Glendale and the Burbank Media District mix glass storefront entries, shared lobbies, elevators, parking structures and suites that change tenants every few years. We set up entry, elevator and garage readers so a property manager controls the common areas while each tenant adds and removes its own staff.

Medical groups and clinics

Medical offices across the Valley need open patient entries during the day and locked records rooms, medication storage and staff corridors at all times. Access logs show who opened a records room and when.

Slim mullion readers fit the glass storefront entries common in Valley office buildings.

Manufacturing and aerospace suppliers

Industrial buildings in Burbank, Chatsworth, Sylmar and Valencia, and the aerospace supply chain around Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, need zones that match the floor: production, tool cribs, server rooms, controlled areas and shipping. We tie badges to shifts, issue contractor credentials that expire on their own, and keep the door logs that a customer audit or a CMMC assessment asks for. CMMC and other compliance work is completed and contracted by BTI and its partners, including top industry professionals in each category.

Schools and public agencies

Districts, private schools, cities and special districts need lockdown from one button, visitor screening at the front office and contracts their purchasing team can use. BTI holds GSA contract 47QTCA21D00BA and is a CMAS and TESMA contract awardee (California).

Access control platforms we install in the San Fernando Valley

We are not tied to one brand. We recommend the platform that fits your building, your IT team and the hardware already on your doors, and we can run more than one where a portfolio already has a mix.

Cloud or on premises access control?

Both are good choices. The right one depends on how many sites you run, who manages users and what your IT team wants to host.

Taking over an access control system another company installed

Many takeover calls start the same way: the installer closed, sold the business or stopped answering, and no one has the admin login. We take over existing systems, and Brivo accounts in particular, without replacing hardware that still works.

  1. Confirm ownership. You show that the building owns the system, and we arrange the dealer or account change with the manufacturer.
  2. Inventory every door. Panels, readers, locks, power supplies, request to exit devices and door contacts are listed with model and condition.
  3. Clean up users and schedules. Former employees and old contractor badges are removed and schedules match how you actually work.
  4. Fix what is failing. Doors that show offline, forced or held are repaired first.
  5. Plan upgrades only where needed. You get a written plan that keeps working gear and replaces what is at end of life.

What a San Fernando Valley installation includes

  1. Site survey. An engineer walks every opening, checks door frames and hardware and notes power, network and cable paths.
  2. Design. You get a door schedule that lists the reader, lock, contact and exit device for each opening, plus the platform and licensing.
  3. Cabling. Our crews run low voltage cable and network drops under our C-7 License 807767.
  4. Door hardware. Electric strikes, maglocks, electrified hardware, exit devices and readers are installed and tested for safe egress.
  5. Programming. Users, groups, schedules, holidays and alerts are set up and checked with your team.
  6. Training. Admins learn to add users, run reports and lock down doors. We leave written instructions.
  7. Support. Help desk, on site service and 24/7 system health and alert monitoring available, plus a 24/7 converged security NOC/SOC.

Every project is quoted in writing after the survey, with each door and license itemized. Financing at 3.99% is available for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval.

California rules that shape an access control project

Safe egress

Locked doors must still let people out with one motion. Electrified locks, maglocks and delayed egress devices are designed to the California Building Code, and we work with your contractor and the local building department when a permit is required.

Licensed installers

California requires an Alarm Company Operator license for alarm system work. BTI is a Licensed Alarm Company Operator, ACO #7670, and holds C-7 License 807767 for low voltage systems. Our team passes LiveScan background checks before working in client buildings.

Accessibility

Readers, intercoms and door operators are mounted at accessible heights, and automatic openers are coordinated with access control so a badge or button opens the door.

Privacy and records

Access logs contain employee data. We set retention and admin roles so only the right people can see or export them, which supports the privacy policies California employers already keep.

Access control that works with your cameras, alarms and IT

A badge event means more with video beside it. We connect doors to security cameras in the San Fernando Valley so a denied badge or a forced door opens the matching clip, and we link access control with intrusion alarms so the building arms itself when the last person badges out.

Access control lives on your network, so it should be secured like the rest of your IT. Our IT team segments door controllers, keeps firmware current and watches for problems through the 24/7 NOC/SOC. If you also want IT support, see managed IT in the San Fernando Valley and cybersecurity in Los Angeles.

Who installs commercial access control systems in the San Fernando Valley?

BTI Communications Group, LTD. designs, installs and supports commercial access control for San Fernando Valley businesses from its Santa Fe Springs office, about 21 miles from Burbank. We install Brivo, Avigilon Alta (formerly Openpath), Avigilon Unity, Kantech, RS2 (Acre) and Axis, and we hold California ACO #7670 and C-7 License 807767.

Is BTI local to the San Fernando Valley?

Our Southern California office is at 12155 Mora Dr in Santa Fe Springs. We do not have a San Fernando Valley office. Burbank and Glendale are about 17 to 21 miles away in a straight line, and Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley work is planned as scheduled service days. Call 562-298-5070.

Yes. We set up lot gates, stage and edit bay doors, equipment cages and time limited crew and vendor credentials, with door logs your security team can review.

Do you install access control for office and multi-tenant buildings?

Yes. We secure lobbies, suites, elevators and parking for offices in Burbank, Glendale, Sherman Oaks and Encino, and set up multi-tenant systems so each tenant manages its own users while the property manager controls common areas.

Can you take over our existing Brivo account?

Yes. BTI designs, sells, installs, supports and takes over existing Brivo accounts. After you confirm ownership, we arrange the change with Brivo, review users and schedules and fix doors that show offline or forced.

Does access control help with CMMC or other compliance audits?

Door logs, badge reports and controlled zones give auditors evidence of who entered sensitive areas. CMMC and other compliance work is completed and contracted by BTI and its partners, including top industry professionals in each category.

How is an access control project quoted?

After a free site survey we send a written, itemized proposal that lists every door, device and license. Financing at 3.99% is available for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval.

Can we keep our existing door hardware?

Often. Many strikes, maglocks, exit devices and door contacts can stay. The survey shows which openings can reuse hardware and which need new readers or locks.
