Every camera is placed on a plan before anything is mounted

Most camera complaints trace back to design: a lens too wide to read a face at the door, a camera aimed into the afternoon sun, a parking lot with no coverage at the drive aisle. We start every Gateway Cities project with a site survey and a coverage design, and place each camera on your floor plan or an aerial image with its lens, field of view and detection distance modeled.

You see the coverage map, the camera list and the recording plan before you approve anything. That is also the document your insurer, landlord or auditor can review.

  • Pixel density planned for identification at entries and overview in open areas
  • Light, glare and night conditions checked for every exterior view
  • Retention set by camera, so storage matches your policy
  • Cable paths, mounting heights and lift needs priced up front

Camera and video platforms we install in Long Beach and the Gateway Cities

We choose the platform per site, not per vendor. Many clients already have cameras on the wall, and we keep the ones that still perform.

Choosing the right camera for each area

One camera model rarely fits a whole site. This is how we usually match cameras to the places Long Beach and Gateway Cities businesses need to watch.

AreaGoalTypical camera
Main entries and lobbiesIdentify every person who entersFixed dome or bullet with a narrow field of view at face height
Parking lots and yardsSee activity across a wide areaMultisensor or panoramic camera on a pole or roof edge

Every placement is confirmed in the coverage design before installation.

Analytics, plate recognition and talk down

Modern cameras do more than record. We set up the analytics each site needs and tune them so alerts stay useful instead of noisy.

  • Person and vehicle detection on fence lines, yards and after hours parking
  • Forensic search by object type, color, direction and time
  • License plate recognition at gates and garage entries
  • Horn speakers and live or recorded talk down to warn people off a site
  • Line crossing and loitering alerts sent to a phone or a monitoring center
  • AI added to existing cameras where the hardware supports it

Want help after hours? 24/7 system health and alert monitoring available, plus a 24/7 converged security NOC/SOC. See Axis audio and talk down and Axis radar.

The network and cybersecurity most camera installers skip

Cameras are computers on your network. A camera system with default passwords and open ports is a way into the rest of the business. Because BTI is also an IT and cybersecurity provider, we design camera networks the way your IT team would.

  • Cameras on their own VLAN, separated from office computers
  • Unique credentials, current firmware and no open inbound ports
  • PoE switches sized for the cameras and for growth
  • Remote viewing through the platform, not port forwarding
  • Health monitoring so a dead camera is found before you need its footage

Need more than cameras? See IT services in Long Beach and cybersecurity in Los Angeles.

California rules for business video

Audio needs care

California Penal Code 632 restricts recording confidential conversations without consent. We leave audio recording off by default and use speakers for talk down instead of microphones where privacy is a concern.

Places cameras cannot go

California Labor Code 435 bars employers from recording in restrooms, locker rooms and changing rooms. Privacy masks keep other sensitive areas out of view.

Retention and access

We set how long footage is kept, who can export it and how exports are logged, so you can show how video is controlled.

NDAA compliant hardware

Government buyers and federal contractors can choose cameras and recorders that meet Section 889 of the NDAA.

Licensed installers

BTI is a Licensed Alarm Company Operator, ACO #7670, with C-7 License 807767, and our team passes LiveScan background checks.

How a Long Beach or Gateway Cities camera project runs

  1. Free site assessment. We walk the site with you, day and night conditions in mind.
  2. Coverage design. Coverage maps, camera models and the recording plan for your review.
  3. Written proposal. Each camera, license, lift day and cable run is itemized.
  4. Installation. Our crews handle cabling, lift work, mounting and network setup under our C-7 license.
  5. Tuning and handoff. Views, analytics and alerts are adjusted, users are trained and you get as built documentation.
  6. Support. Help desk, on site service and optional monitoring after go live.

Financing at 3.99% is available for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval. Upgrading an older system? We can keep working cameras and replace the recorder first. See our commercial security camera systems overview and the Los Angeles camera page for LA County sites.

Upgrading an older camera system

Many Gateway Cities buildings still run analog or early IP cameras on an aging recorder. A full rip and replace is rarely needed.

  • Replace the recorder first and keep IP cameras that still meet image and security standards
  • Use encoders to bring working analog cameras onto a new platform during a phased upgrade
  • Reuse existing cable where testing shows it can carry PoE
  • Upgrade the entries and parking areas first, where image quality matters most
  • Move to cloud or hybrid video when sites have no IT staff to manage servers

Proof from Southern California

BTI has designed and installed camera systems for water utilities, public agencies, manufacturers and office buildings across Southern California. Long Beach and Gateway Cities security cameras: questions we hear

Who installs commercial security cameras in Long Beach?

BTI Communications Group, LTD. designs, installs and supports commercial IP camera systems for Long Beach businesses and public agencies from its Santa Fe Springs office, about 14 miles away. We are an Authorized and Certified Axis Gold Partner and hold California ACO #7670 and C-7 License 807767.

Do you install cameras at warehouses and truck yards in Carson and Compton?

Yes. We design dock, trailer yard, gate and fence line coverage for distribution centers and yards in Carson, Compton, Rancho Dominguez and along the 710, with plate recognition at gate lanes and alerts after hours.

Do you install security cameras in Downey, Norwalk and Cerritos?

Yes. Those cities are 3 to 6 miles from our office, and we install and service systems for offices, retail centers, dealers, clinics and public buildings there.

How long does a security camera installation take?

Most projects follow a free site assessment, a written coverage design and proposal, then a scheduled install. Install time depends on camera count, cabling paths and lift work, and we plan around shifts and deliveries so the site stays open.

Can you keep our existing cameras?

Usually some of them. We test each camera for image quality, firmware support and security, keep the ones that pass and replace failed or unsupported units. Many platforms we install record mixed camera brands.

Cloud or on premises video: which is better for us?

Cloud video suits offices and retail with a few cameras per site. On premises recorders suit yards, warehouses and plants with many cameras and long retention. Hybrid options such as OpenEye cloud video keep video local and manage it in the cloud.

Do you install license plate recognition?

Yes. We install license plate recognition at truck gates, garage entries and drive aisles, and connect reads to alerts and search in your video platform.

Can we record audio on our business cameras in California?

Only with care. State law limits recording private conversations without consent, so we leave audio recording off by default and help you decide where signage and consent make it appropriate, such as a gate intercom.

Do you offer NDAA compliant cameras?

Yes. Government agencies and federal contractors can choose camera and recorder models that meet Section 889 of the NDAA.

How is a camera project quoted?

After a free site assessment and a coverage design, we send a written proposal with every camera, license and labor item listed.

Can cameras work with our access control?

Yes. We link video to door and gate events so a denied badge or forced door opens the matching clip. See access control in Long Beach and the Gateway Cities.

Who watches the cameras after hours?

Optional alert monitoring and our converged security NOC/SOC can watch for events after hours, around the clock. We size the plan with you during the consultation.
