About BTI's Alarm.com work
BTI Communications Group is an Alarm.com dealer that works only with businesses and commercial properties; it does not install or support Alarm.com in homes. BTI designs, installs, monitors and services Alarm.com for Business intrusion, commercial video, access control, energy and temperature monitoring, multi-location management and SDS gunshot detection, with local teams in the Los Angeles, Chicago and Phoenix metro areas. BTI has been in business for over 40 years and is certified by Alarm.com in every Alarm.com product area it sells.
What Alarm.com for Business is
Alarm.com for Business is Alarm.com's commercial security platform. It connects intrusion detection, video, access control, energy and temperature sensors and reporting in one cloud platform, managed from one mobile app and website. Alarm.com sells the platform only through dealers, who design, install and service each system. BTI is that local dealer for commercial sites in Southern California, Chicagoland and the Phoenix metro.
Alarm.com groups the line three ways, and BTI designs for all three:
- Small and medium business: one site, a handful of doors and cameras, simple schedules.
- Commercial: larger buildings, more doors and cameras, and integration with existing systems.
- Multi-location: many sites managed from one Enterprise Dashboard.
You may also see older names for the same platform, such as "Smart Business Security" or "Smarter Business". Alarm.com's current name for its commercial line is Alarm.com for Business.

Commercial intrusion detection with Alarm.com
Intrusion detection is the base of most Alarm.com for Business systems, so BTI covers it here rather than on a separate page.
- Automatic arming: the system can detect when a building is left unarmed after hours and arm it.
- Access-linked arming: the first badge-in of the day can disarm the alarm, and a double tap of a card can arm it on the way out.
- User codes and contacts: add or delete user codes and update the monitoring emergency contact list from the app or website.
- Video alerts: when an alarm trips, a video clip helps you and the monitoring operator see what happened.
- Activity alerts while disarmed: know when a restricted door opens or a back door is left open.
BTI designs alarm communication with more than one path where the site needs it, so a cut phone line or internet outage does not silence the system. Read why alarm communication redundancy matters.
Running an older panel? BTI services existing DMP systems and upgrades them to Alarm.com, sometimes with an Alarm.com communicator instead of a full panel replacement. What your panel needs is confirmed during your site assessment. See DMP service and upgrades and commercial alarm system installation.
Remote video monitoring with CHeKT
Remote video monitoring is the most requested add-on to Alarm.com for Business at BTI. CHeKT, in which Alarm.com acquired a majority stake in February 2025, sends event-triggered video to operators when an alarm or camera event triggers. BTI staff and BTI's central stations review the video, use on-site speakers to warn intruders and call police when needed. Video verification helps police prioritize the call. Monitoring schedules can run 24/7; operators respond to events rather than watching cameras continuously.

Works with OpenEye
OpenEye is Alarm.com's cloud video management platform for commercial properties, and BTI is an authorized OpenEye reseller. Sites with larger camera counts or video management needs can pair OpenEye video with Alarm.com intrusion and access control. See OpenEye cloud video.
How BTI delivers Alarm.com for Business
Quote and design. A BTI security engineer walks your site, or reviews plans for new construction, and designs the system around your doors, openings, camera views and schedules. You get a written quote with the equipment, installation scope and the Alarm.com service plan your features need. Request a quote, or book a free consultation to talk through options first.
Sales without guesswork. BTI recommends only the Alarm.com products that fit your site. Where another platform fits your site better, we say so.
Installation. BTI's own technicians install panels, sensors, cameras, recorders, door hardware, readers and communicators, then program users, schedules and automation rules so the system matches how your business opens, closes and runs.
Licensing and service plans. Alarm.com for Business features run on an Alarm.com service plan provided through your dealer. BTI explains which plan level each feature needs, so your plan matches the features your site uses. BTI is a Licensed Alarm Company Operator.
Monitoring. Alarm signals and video events are monitored by BTI staff and BTI's central stations.
Service and support. After go-live, BTI's local service teams handle changes, troubleshooting, user training and equipment service. BTI's network and IT teams can also support the cellular and network connections your security system depends on.
