BTI installs business networks across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire: structured cabling, Wi-Fi, switching, firewalls and the racks that hold them, put in by our own C-7 licensed low-voltage technicians and certified network engineers. If you are moving into a new space, finishing a tenant improvement, adding a floor or rolling the same standard out to a dozen sites, our network installation services get you to a tested, documented and supportable network on a schedule your general contractor and your users can count on.

We have built and supported business technology for 40 years. We are a Cisco Select Partner and SMB Black Belt with more than 500 Meraki deployments behind us, and 98% of our clients stay with us year after year.

Who this page is for

This page is for Los Angeles organizations that already know what they need built and want it installed correctly: operations leaders, facilities managers, IT directors and general contractors working on offices, clinics, warehouses, schools, retail and multi-site portfolios. If you are still deciding what the network should look like, how it should be segmented or which hardware fits, start with our network design consultants in Los Angeles. Design work done there flows straight into the installation described here.

What our Los Angeles network installation covers

A network installation from BTI is one accountable scope, not a stack of subcontractors. Depending on the project, it includes:

  • Structured cabling. Cat6 and Cat6A horizontal runs, fiber backbones between IDFs and the MDF, patch panels, faceplates, labeling and cable management that meets TIA-568 and is ready for inspection.
  • Racks, power and pathways. Two- and four-post racks, wall-mount enclosures, J-hooks and cable tray, grounding and bonding, UPS and PDU installation.
  • Switching. Cisco Catalyst and Meraki MS access and core switches, PoE budgeting for access points, phones and cameras, VLANs and trunking configured to the design.
  • Wireless. Predictive and on-site surveys, access point mounting and configuration, SSID and guest isolation, and post-install heat maps that show coverage.
  • Firewalls and edge. Meraki MX and other next-generation firewalls, ISP handoff, SD-WAN, VPN and failover circuits. See our Los Angeles WAN services for multi-site connectivity.
  • Testing and documentation. Certification of every copper and fiber link, as-built drawings, port maps, configuration backups and a handoff walk with your team.

How a BTI installation runs, step by step

Network installation projects in Los Angeles go off track for predictable reasons: late ceiling access, landlord rules nobody shared, ISP circuits that arrive weeks behind schedule, and cabling crews who leave before anyone tests the switches. Our process is built around those risks.

1. Site walk and scope confirmation

A project lead walks the space with your team, and your contractor if there is one. We confirm drop counts, MDF and IDF locations, ceiling and wall conditions, plenum requirements, building access hours and any landlord or property-management standards. If you already have drawings from an architect or a network design, we work from those.

2. Written scope, schedule and bill of materials

You get a written scope that spells out what is included, what the ISP or electrician is responsible for, and what has to be in place before each phase can start. We coordinate the low-voltage schedule with the general contractor's schedule so cabling goes in before ceilings close, not after.

3. Rough-in and cable pulls

Our C-7 licensed technicians pull, terminate and label cabling to the agreed standard. In occupied offices we can work after hours or in phases so the business keeps running.

4. Equipment install and configuration

Engineers rack and configure switches, firewalls and access points to the design, then bring the ISP handoff online. We stage and preconfigure hardware where we can so on-site cutover time stays short.

5. Testing, cutover and handoff

Every link is certified and every access point is validated. We cut over at a time that suits your operations, stay on site through first-day issues, and hand over documentation your team or ours can support for years.

Network installation for tenant improvements and new offices

Most of our Los Angeles installation work happens inside a tenant improvement or a move. Low-voltage work has to fit around framing, electrical, fire and ceiling inspections, and a missed window can mean opening finished ceilings. We join early, before drywall, and agree pathway, conduit and backbox locations with your contractor. We also flag what the building owner requires, such as plenum-rated cable, firestopping at penetrations or approved contractors for riser work, so nothing stalls the certificate of occupancy.

When you are moving, we plan the network so it is live and tested before move-in day. Phones, printers, conference rooms and cameras work on the first morning, not the second week.

Multi-site and standardized rollouts

Organizations with locations across Southern California, or across several states, need every site built the same way. We create a site standard covering rack layout, labeling, switch and access point models, VLAN plan and firewall policy, and repeat it at each location. Meraki's cloud dashboard makes this especially efficient. With more than 500 Meraki deployments, we know how to template networks so a new site comes up in hours and your team can see every location in one place. Structured cabling in Los Angeles: getting the foundation right

Structured cabling outlasts every switch and access point you plug into it, so it pays to get it right. We recommend Cat6A for new Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access point drops and for any run that may carry high-power PoE. Cat6 suits most desk and device drops, and single-mode or OM4 fiber suits backbones between floors and buildings. Every run is labeled at both ends, recorded on a port map and certified with a tester, so future moves and troubleshooting take minutes instead of hours.

If you have an older building with undocumented cabling, we can audit what is there, tone and label what is worth keeping, and remove abandoned cable as part of the project.

What drives the cost of a network installation in Los Angeles

We don't publish prices because two offices with the same headcount can need very different work. These are the factors that move a network installation budget most:

  • Drop count and cable category. Each drop is labor plus material. Cat6A costs more than Cat6 but is the better long-term choice for access points and high-power PoE.
  • Building conditions. Open ceilings, hard-lid ceilings, concrete core drilling, plenum requirements and long runs to a distant MDF all change labor hours.
  • Work hours. After-hours and weekend work in occupied buildings protects operations but costs more than daytime work in an empty suite.
  • Hardware choices. Switch port counts, PoE budgets, access point models and firewall throughput, along with licensing terms for cloud-managed gear.
  • Carrier work. New circuits, building entrance work and riser paths are often outside the tenant's control and can add lead time.
  • Reusing existing infrastructure. Certifying and reusing good cabling can save money; patching around bad cabling usually doesn't.

Your written scope will itemize each of these so you can compare options, and 100% financing is available on qualifying projects.

Network installation checklist for Los Angeles moves

Use this as a starting point when you plan a move or build-out:

  1. Confirm your move-in date and work backward at least 90 days for circuit orders.
  2. Get the building's contractor rules, insurance requirements and riser access process from property management.
  3. Mark drop locations on the furniture plan, including access points, cameras, printers, TVs, badge readers and conference rooms.
  4. Size the MDF/IDF for racks, cooling, dedicated power and future growth.
  5. Decide which existing equipment moves and which gets replaced.
  6. Order ISP circuits, and a backup circuit, as early as possible.
  7. Schedule low-voltage rough-in before ceilings and walls close.
  8. Plan the cutover weekend and a first-day support window.
  9. Get certification results, as-builts and admin credentials at handoff.

Common network installation mistakes we fix

  • Cable runs that exceed distance limits or were never certified, causing intermittent drops.
  • Unlabeled patch panels that turn a five-minute move into a half-day trace.
  • PoE switches undersized for the access points, phones and cameras added later.
  • Consumer-grade Wi-Fi in spaces that need enterprise coverage and roaming.
  • Flat networks with no separation between guest, corporate, camera and payment traffic.
  • No documentation, so the next vendor starts from scratch.

Every BTI installation is designed to avoid these, and we can remediate them in networks someone else installed.

Licensing, safety and compliance

Low-voltage work in California requires a licensed contractor. BTI holds a California C-7 low-voltage systems license (#807767), carries the insurance commercial landlords and general contractors require, and is registered with ISNetworld for clients who prequalify contractors through it. We are ISO 27001 compliant, and our NOC and SOC are SOC 2 certified, which matters once the network is live and being monitored. Public-sector buyers can work with us through our GSA contract.

After installation: support that doesn't disappear

Many installers leave once the last cable is terminated. BTI can stay on as your support partner. Options include network monitoring from our SOC 2 certified NOC, which has handled more than 10,000 alerts with zero missed; firmware and configuration management; and a one-business-day engineer response commitment for on-site needs. For ongoing coverage, see our managed IT services in Los Angeles or our outsourced IT for Los Angeles organizations.

Financing and budgeting

Network installation is a capital project, and timing often matters more than the total. BTI offers 100% financing on qualifying projects, so you can install the network your space needs now and spread the cost over time. We give a fixed written scope before work starts, so you know what is included and change orders are rare.

Why a Bigger Bundle Costs Less Per Item

When a Los Angeles project combines cabling, switching, Wi-Fi, firewalls, circuits and ongoing support under BTI, the price per item usually drops as the bundle grows. One team runs the design, installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, quality control and project management, so the same site walk, the same mobilization and the same project manager cover the whole scope. That saves time and creates economies of scale on every phase.

For a tenant improvement or multi-site rollout across Southern California, a bundle can include:

  • Financing from as low as 4% on all equipment and labor.
  • Discounted telecom procurement, with BTI sourcing and coordinating your ISP and backup circuits.
  • Expert configuration and management of the switches, access points and firewalls we install.
  • Controlled, predictable and lower costs for monitoring, support and maintenance after go-live.

Every extra vendor on a Los Angeles job site adds handoffs, schedules and people to coordinate, and that complexity shows up as delays and change orders. When BTI coordinates and has authority over more of the value chain, from the carrier handoff to the last access point, the work gets done better, faster and less expensively.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a network installation?

A BTI network installation typically includes structured cabling (copper and fiber), racks and power, switch and firewall installation and configuration, Wi-Fi access points with a coverage survey, ISP handoff coordination, link certification and as-built documentation. We confirm the exact scope in writing after a site walk.

How long does a network installation take in Los Angeles?

A small office of 20 to 50 drops can often be cabled and brought online in a few days. Larger tenant improvements and multi-floor projects follow the construction schedule and usually run several weeks. ISP circuit lead times are often the longest item, so we order circuits early.

Do you need a license to install network cabling in California?

Yes. Commercial low-voltage cabling in California is licensed work. BTI's technicians work under California C-7 license #807767, and we carry the insurance landlords and general contractors require.

What is the difference between network design and network installation?

Network design decides what to build: architecture, segmentation, hardware and coverage. Installation builds it: cabling, mounting, configuration, testing and handoff. Our Los Angeles network design team handles the planning, and the installation team carries it out. You can engage either one or both.

Can you install a network in an occupied office without disrupting work?

Yes. We schedule cable pulls and cutovers after hours or on weekends, phase the work floor by floor, and stage equipment in advance so downtime is limited to a short, planned window.

Is your internet provider's installation the same as network installation?

No. An ISP installs the circuit up to a demarcation point. Everything after that, including firewall, switches, cabling, Wi-Fi and configuration, is the network installation BTI provides. We coordinate with your ISP so the handoff happens on time.

Do you support the network after it is installed?

Yes. We offer monitoring from our SOC 2 certified NOC, managed network services and a one-business-day engineer response, so the team that built your network can also keep it running.

Can we finance a network installation?

Yes. BTI offers 100% financing on qualifying projects, so you can spread the cost of the installation over time.

Why does bundling network services cost less per item?

Because one team handles the design, installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, quality control and project management for the whole scope, it saves time and gains economies of scale. Fewer vendors also means less coordination. BTI adds financing from as low as 4% on all equipment and labor, discounted telecom procurement and predictable support costs.

Can BTI handle our internet circuits as well as the installation?

Yes. BTI offers discounted telecom procurement and coordinates your ISP and backup circuits with the installation schedule, so the network and the connection go live together.
