Inland Empire access control by building type

The Inland Empire is built around large industrial buildings, and each one asks something different of its doors. These guides go deeper on the four building types we are asked about most in the region, with recommended setups and local questions answered.

Warehouses and distribution centers in the Inland Empire

Dock doors, cages, offices and gates on one schedule, with badge access by shift and temporary driver and contractor credentials.

What Inland Empire buildings need from access control

Warehouses and distribution centers

Ontario, Fontana, Rialto, Redlands, Moreno Valley, Perris and the High Desert hold some of the largest distribution buildings in the country. Those buildings have dozens of dock doors, a guard shack or gate, a driver entrance, high value cages and an office block, and staffing changes with every season. We put the office, the warehouse floor, the cages and the gate on one schedule, tie badges to shifts so access ends when a shift ends, and issue driver and temporary worker credentials that expire on their own.

Manufacturing and industrial plants

Corona, Riverside, Chino, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga are home to plants that make food, building products, metal parts and equipment. They need zones that match the floor: production, tool cribs, server rooms, chemical storage and shipping. Door logs show who entered each area and when, which supports customer audits and safety programs.

Offices and business parks

Office parks around Ontario International Airport, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside and Temecula mix storefront entries, shared lobbies and suites. We set up entry and suite readers so a property manager controls common areas while each tenant manages its own staff.

Exterior IP camera mounted on a warehouse wall
Door events and warehouse video are designed together, as one plan.

Public agencies and water organizations

Cities, counties, special districts and water organizations need lockdown from one button, visitor screening at the front counter, remote site access and contracts their purchasing team can use. BTI holds GSA contract 47QTCA21D00BA and is a CMAS and TESMA contract awardee (California). Water organizations in the region that work with BTI include Western Municipal Water District and Fontana Water Company.

Heat, wind and dust

Desert and foothill sites are hard on outdoor hardware. For gates, yards and exterior doors we choose readers, enclosures and power supplies rated for the heat and dust of the High Desert and the Coachella Valley, and we plan battery backup for wind season outages.

Access control platforms we install in the Inland Empire

We are not tied to one brand. We recommend the platform that fits your building, your IT team and the hardware already on your doors, and we can run more than one where a portfolio already has a mix.

Cloud or on premises access control?

Both are good choices. The right one depends on how many sites you run, who manages users and what your IT team wants to host.

Taking over an access control system another company installed

Many calls start the same way: the installer closed, sold the business or stopped answering, and no one has the admin login. We take over existing systems, and Brivo accounts in particular, without replacing hardware that still works. At a public retirement association in San Bernardino County, BTI took over the existing Brivo account from the prior vendor and is bringing Brivo access control, Milestone video and Alarm.com intrusion onto one platform, with mobile access and managed access control.

  1. Confirm ownership. You show that the building owns the system, and we arrange the dealer or account change with the manufacturer.
  2. Inventory every door. Panels, readers, locks, power supplies, request to exit devices and door contacts are listed with model and condition.
  3. Clean up users and schedules. Former employees, seasonal workers and old contractor badges are removed and schedules match how you actually work.
  4. Fix what is failing. Doors that show offline, forced or held are repaired first.
  5. Plan upgrades only where needed. You get a written plan that keeps working gear and replaces what is at end of life.

Panels and power supplies are inventoried and tested during every takeover.

What an Inland Empire installation includes

  1. Site survey. An engineer walks every opening, gate and dock entry, checks door frames and hardware and notes power, network and cable paths.
  2. Design. You get a door schedule that lists the reader, lock, contact and exit device for each opening, plus the platform and licensing.
  3. Cabling. Our crews run low voltage cable and network drops under our C-7 License 807767, including long runs to guard shacks and gates.
  4. Door hardware. Electric strikes, maglocks, electrified hardware, exit devices and readers are installed and tested for safe egress.
  5. Programming. Users, groups, shifts, holidays and alerts are set up and checked with your team.
  6. Training. Admins learn to add users, run reports and lock down doors. We leave written instructions.
  7. Support. Help desk, on site service and 24/7 system health and alert monitoring available, plus a 24/7 converged security NOC/SOC.

Every project is quoted in writing after the survey, with each door and license itemized. Financing at 3.99% is available for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval.

California rules that shape an access control project

Safe egress

Locked doors must still let people out with one motion. Electrified locks, maglocks and delayed egress devices are designed to the California Building Code, and we work with your contractor, the city building department and the local fire authority when a permit is required.

Licensed installers

California requires an Alarm Company Operator license for alarm system work. BTI is a Licensed Alarm Company Operator, ACO #7670, and holds C-7 License 807767 for low voltage systems. Our team passes LiveScan background checks before working in client buildings.

Accessibility

Readers, intercoms and door operators are mounted at accessible heights, and automatic openers are coordinated with access control so a badge or button opens the door.

Workplace violence prevention

California Labor Code 6401.9 (SB 553) asks most employers to keep a written prevention plan. Controlled entries, visitor records and lockdown give that plan practical controls.

Access control that works with your cameras, alarms and IT

A badge event means more with video beside it. We connect doors to security cameras in the Inland Empire so a denied badge or a forced door opens the matching clip, and we link access control with intrusion alarms so the building arms itself when the last person badges out.

Access control lives on your network, so it should be secured like the rest of your IT. Our IT team segments door controllers, keeps firmware current and watches for problems through the 24/7 NOC/SOC. If you also want IT support, see managed IT in the Inland Empire.

Inland Empire access control: questions we hear

Who installs commercial access control systems in the Inland Empire?

BTI Communications Group, LTD. designs, installs and supports commercial access control for Inland Empire businesses and public agencies from its Santa Fe Springs office. We install Brivo, Avigilon Alta (formerly Openpath), Avigilon Unity, Kantech, RS2 (Acre) and Axis, and we hold California ACO #7670 and C-7 License 807767.

Is BTI local to the Inland Empire?

We do not have an Inland Empire office. Our Southern California office is at 12155 Mora Dr in Santa Fe Springs, about 26 miles from Ontario and 39 miles from Riverside in a straight line. High Desert and Coachella Valley visits take longer and are usually scheduled. Call 562-298-5070.

Do you install access control for warehouses and distribution centers?

Yes. We secure dock offices, cages, driver entrances, gates and guard shacks for distribution buildings in Ontario, Fontana, Rialto, Moreno Valley, Perris and the High Desert, with badge access by shift and temporary credentials for drivers and seasonal staff.

Do you install access control for manufacturing plants and industrial buildings?

Yes. We set up restricted zones, shift based access, contractor credentials, gates and dock doors for plants and industrial buildings in Corona, Riverside, Chino, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, with door logs that support customer audits.

Can you take over our existing Brivo account?

Yes. BTI designs, sells, installs, supports and takes over existing Brivo accounts. After you confirm ownership, we arrange the change with Brivo, review users and schedules and fix doors that show offline or forced.

How is an Inland Empire access control project quoted?

After a free site survey we send a written, itemized proposal that lists every door, gate, device and license. Financing at 3.99% is available for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval.

Can we keep our existing door hardware?

Often. Many strikes, maglocks, exit devices and door contacts can stay. The survey shows which openings can reuse hardware and which need new readers or locks.

Can staff use their phones instead of badges?

Yes. Brivo, Avigilon Alta and Kantech all support mobile credentials, and cards and phones can work side by side during a phased switch.

Do you work with Inland Empire public agencies and water organizations?

Yes. BTI holds GSA contract 47QTCA21D00BA and is a CMAS and TESMA contract awardee (California). Water organizations in the region that work with BTI include Western Municipal Water District and Fontana Water Company.

What hardware holds up in the High Desert and Coachella Valley heat?

We choose outdoor readers, enclosures and power supplies rated for high heat and dust, shade them where we can and plan battery backup for wind season power outages.
