IT infrastructure for Arizona organizations building fast in a hard climate

Few regions combine rapid growth and harsh operating conditions the way the Phoenix metro does. New offices, clinics, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities open across the Valley every year, often on tight timelines, and the infrastructure inside them has to survive summer heat, monsoon dust and lightning, and power events. When networks, cabling and servers are planned without those realities in mind, hardware fails early and outages last longer.

BTI designs, installs and supports IT infrastructure for Phoenix and Tucson organizations from our office at 615 N 48th St, Suite 1048 in Phoenix. The engineers who plan your network also build and support it, so nothing gets lost between design and day-to-day operation. Whether you need a single closet rebuilt or a statewide network redesigned, the approach is the same: document, design, build, test and support. Call 602-733-6807.

Assessment and roadmap

A full inventory of circuits, firewalls, switching, wireless, servers, storage and cloud, with end-of-life equipment, environmental risks and single points of failure ranked in a practical roadmap.

Network design

Site and multi-site architecture, segmentation, wireless design and WAN planning. See network design in Phoenix and Tucson.

Cabling and closets

Structured cabling, rack builds, labeling and closet layouts that leave room for airflow. See network installation in Phoenix.

SD-WAN and circuits

Diverse carriers and SD-WAN failover so one cut fiber or storm-damaged line does not stop a site. See SD-WAN in Phoenix.

Servers and virtualization

Right-sized on-premises compute, storage refreshes and migration of suitable workloads to the cloud.

Hybrid cloud

Azure and Microsoft 365 integration, identity, secure site-to-cloud connectivity and backup on both sides.

Designing for heat, dust and monsoon season

Phoenix summers routinely exceed 110°F, and many network closets were never designed to remove the heat that modern switches, firewalls and PoE devices generate. Monsoon season, roughly June through September, adds dust storms, sudden downpours, lightning and power fluctuations. Our designs address these conditions directly:

  • Thermal planning: closet placement, ventilation or dedicated cooling recommendations, rack layouts that keep hot and cold air apart, and environmental sensors that alert before equipment overheats.
  • Power protection: UPS sizing for realistic runtime, scheduled battery replacement, surge protection and generator integration where facilities have them.
  • Dust and enclosures: sealed or filtered enclosures for equipment in warehouses, shops and outbuildings.
  • Outdoor and rooftop gear: equipment rated for the temperature range it will actually face, and grounding for antennas and outdoor runs.
  • Cloud-first resilience: moving critical services to the cloud and adding secondary circuits so a building-level outage does not become a business-level one.

New construction and tenant improvements across the Valley

Much of Phoenix’s commercial real estate is new or recently renovated, from Tempe and Chandler office campuses to large industrial buildings along the Loop 303 and in the Southwest Valley. That creates an opportunity to get infrastructure right the first time, but only if IT is involved early. Bring us in during design or right after lease signing, and we will:

  • Review drawings for telecom room size, location, power and cooling.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, electricians and security and AV vendors on pathways and schedules.
  • Order primary and backup circuits early and track carrier milestones.
  • Design wireless coverage for the finished space, including warehouse racking and outdoor areas.
  • Pre-stage equipment and test every connection before move-in.

Multi-site and statewide networks

Arizona organizations often operate a Phoenix headquarters with branches in Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma or smaller communities where carrier options are limited. We standardize firewall and switching designs, centralize management and use SD-WAN to combine whatever circuits are available into reliable connectivity. Remote sites get the same security policies and monitoring as headquarters.

Tucson and southern Arizona are covered by BTI’s contractor network for day-to-day on-site needs, and our Phoenix engineers drive down for projects.

Wireless for warehouses, campuses and outdoor spaces

Large Arizona facilities present specific wireless challenges. Tall metal racking in distribution centers blocks and reflects signals, campuses spread staff across several buildings, and many businesses need coverage in yards, loading docks, patios or parking areas where heat-rated equipment is essential. We start with a predictive design based on floor plans and racking layouts, validate it with on-site surveys, and tune roaming so scanners, tablets and phones hand off cleanly as people move. After installation, we verify coverage and document access-point locations and settings so future changes do not create dead zones.

Infrastructure for regulated and high-security environments

Arizona’s healthcare systems, semiconductor and aerospace suppliers, financial firms and public agencies need infrastructure that supports their compliance obligations, including segmented networks for sensitive systems, logging, change control and documentation that stands up to audits. Suppliers to defense programs increasingly need to show CMMC-aligned controls. We design with those requirements in mind and work with high-security enterprise partners for monitoring and response. For assessments, vCISO and governance programs, see our national cybersecurity services and IT compliance services.

BTI has been in business for 40 years, operates under an ISO 27001 compliant program, and holds GSA contract vehicles.

Ready for AI and data-heavy workloads

Arizona’s data center boom reflects how much compute modern businesses consume. Most organizations do not need their own data center, but AI tools and cloud applications do raise demands on bandwidth, identity and data governance. We assess whether your network and Microsoft 365 environment are ready before you invest in AI. Explore BTI AI services and solutions.

Lifecycle planning instead of emergency replacements

Heat shortens the useful life of batteries, fans and power supplies, which makes lifecycle planning especially important in Arizona. As part of an assessment or ongoing management, we record the age, support status and condition of every major infrastructure component and build a replacement schedule tied to your budget cycle. That turns surprise failures in July into planned refreshes in the spring, scheduled when they disrupt the business least. It also helps finance teams forecast capital spending instead of reacting to it.

Signs your infrastructure needs an upgrade

  • Equipment fails more often in summer, or closets feel hot to the touch.
  • Firewalls, switches or servers are past end of support.
  • One internet circuit failure takes a site offline.
  • Wi-Fi coverage in warehouses or outdoor areas is unreliable.
  • Every site was built differently, and nobody has current diagrams.
