Software House is a Johnson Controls brand, and C•CURE is its flagship access control and event management platform.

C•CURE 9000 and C•CURE IQ: What Has Changed

Software House describes C•CURE IQ as an evolution of C•CURE 9000. The C•CURE 9000 engine still runs access control and event management, while C•CURE IQ adds a browser based client and a security operations intelligence layer that brings access control, video, incidents, reporting and analytics into one web experience. For most existing customers, the database and iSTAR controllers stay in place and operators move to a faster, more modern interface.

What C•CURE IQ 3.20 Adds

C•CURE IQ 3.20, announced by Johnson Controls in July 2026 and shown at GSX in September, extends the platform further into video. C•CURE IQ Video can run on its own or unified with access control, events are prioritized automatically by severity, context and policy, and operators get custom, spatially aware insights so they can see what matters first. A Client for Every Role

Operators can work in the C•CURE IQ web client, the C•CURE 9000 administration workstation, the C•CURE Go mobile app or the victor unified client for sites that also run American Dynamics video. Deployment Options: On Premises, Cloud or Hybrid

On Premises Enterprise

C•CURE 9000 Enterprise uses a master application server with up to 60 satellite servers. Software House rates each server for up to 5,000 readers, so large organizations can manage many buildings under one set of policies while each site keeps local control. This is the common choice for organizations that keep security servers in their own data center.

C•CURE Cloud

C•CURE Cloud is the Software House hosted option. It runs in a dedicated single tenant Microsoft Azure environment, connects to on site iSTAR controllers with a Zero Trust design, supports up to 5,000 readers and is currently offered in North America. It removes the need to maintain local C•CURE servers.

Hybrid

Software House positions the C•CURE IQ portfolio for on premises, hybrid and cloud deployments. A hybrid design can keep critical sites on local servers while newer or smaller sites connect through cloud services. iSTAR Controllers Matched to Your Site

Every C•CURE door depends on an iSTAR controller. Choosing the right model for each closet and building keeps wiring simple and leaves room to grow.

iSTAR Ultra G2 and Ultra G2 SE

The iSTAR Ultra G2 supports up to 32 readers, OSDP Secure Channel, embedded PIV authentication and up to one million cardholders in local memory. The Ultra G2 SE fits retrofits where enclosure space is limited, and it is the published upgrade path for iSTAR Pro panels.

iSTAR Edge G2

The iSTAR Edge G2 handles up to eight doors or readers with a local database of up to one million cardholders. It supports OSDP, offers a PoE module so doors can be powered from the network, and supports embedded High Assurance FICAM operation. It suits small buildings, remote sites and doors far from the main security closet.

C•CURE Upgrades and iSTAR Migrations

iSTAR Pro Replacement

Software House ended firmware support for iSTAR Pro controllers on April 5, 2024, and published an upgrade path to the iSTAR Ultra G2 SE using GSTAR-PRO-08 and GSTAR-PRO-16 kits. BTI plans these swaps door by door to keep downtime short.

C•CURE 9000 Version 3.00 End of Support

Software House has announced that C•CURE 9000 version 3.00 reaches End of Support in January 2027. After that date the version no longer receives software development or security updates, and Software House encourages sites on v3.00 and earlier to move to a current release. Customers with an active Software Support Agreement continue to receive technical support. Read the Software House notice.

How BTI Runs an Upgrade

1. Audit: we record server and SQL versions, operating systems, controller firmware, readers, licenses and every integration.
2. Plan: we map the version path, schedule maintenance windows and confirm that each integration is supported on the target release.
3. Stage: we upgrade servers first, then controllers site by site, so doors keep working through the project.
4. Verify: we test doors, alarms, video links and reports with your team, then hand over updated documentation.

Security Intelligence and Video Integration

C•CURE IQ turns raw door events into information operators can act on. Security Intelligence dashboards show alarm trends, automated responses, occupancy and attendance, and the Unified Health Dashboard flags offline devices before they become a problem.

On the video side, C•CURE integrates natively with American Dynamics VideoEdge recorders and Illustra cameras, and with Exacq video. Operators can pull up live and recorded video from an alarm, build clips and search footage without leaving the C•CURE IQ client. Software House also maintains a large Connected Partner Program for intrusion, intercom, elevator, identity and building system integrations.

BTI designs these integrations around how your team actually responds: which alarms need video, who gets notified and what a good incident report looks like.

High Assurance and Cybersecurity

C•CURE 9000 with the Software House High Assurance software and iSTAR Ultra and Ultra G2 controllers appears on the GSA FICAM Approved Products List (APL #10159). That listing matters for federal agencies and contractors that must validate PIV credentials at the door.

Software House cybersecurity documentation states that iSTAR controllers use AES-256 encryption and have achieved FIPS 197 and FIPS 140-2 validation. C•CURE IQ supports modern web security, including single sign on and two factor login for operators.

BTI can design and support C•CURE systems for high assurance doors, working with your identity, IT and facilities teams on credential enrollment, reader selection and network hardening.

Visitor Management, Identity and Mobile Credentials

C•CURE Portal gives receptionists and hosts a simple web screen to register, badge and track visitors, send host notifications and support QR code check in. Its access request workflow lets employees ask for door access and routes approvals to the right manager.

Onboarding and offboarding can be tied to HR data so new hires get the right access on day one and departing staff lose it on time. Badges can be designed and printed at the security desk.

Mobile credentials are supported through HID Mobile Access, and Apple Wallet employee badges are available for C•CURE 9000 through SwiftConnect. BTI can help you plan a mobile credential rollout, including reader compatibility, enrollment and policies for lost phones.
