OpenEye Licensing for Business: OWS Tiers Compared
Every OpenEye recording channel runs on an OpenEye Web Services (OWS) subscription. OpenEye offers three tiers: Standard, Plus and AI Pro. BTI recommends the tier that fits how you use video, quotes it with your hardware and labor, and tracks renewals so coverage never lapses.
For businesses only: BTI licenses, installs and supports OpenEye for commercial clients and commercial properties. We do not serve homes.

How OWS licensing works
- Per channel. OWS is licensed per recording channel, according to OpenEye's licensing FAQs.
- Monthly or annual billing. Subscriptions can be billed monthly or annually.
- One tier per account. An OWS account runs on a single tier, so all locations share the same feature set.
- Installation grace period. OpenEye's current policy bills the first renewal after the rest of the purchase month plus one full month.
- Per terminal and per analytic add-ons. POS Connect is licensed per terminal, and Operational Analytics is licensed per channel per analytic.

Source: OpenEye OWS licensing, checked Oct 25, 2026. OpenEye can change tiers at any time, and BTI confirms the current list in every quote. "No" means the feature is not listed for that tier.
All tiers run on Windows or Linux and support VMware or Hyper-V virtual machines. Intrusion alarm event clips are saved to the cloud for 7 days. License counts for multisensor cameras vary by tier, and BTI calculates them in your quote.

Which tier fits?
- Standard suits sites that need reliable recording, health alerts, search and sharing.
- Plus fits retail, restaurant and multi-site operators who want POS Connect, cloud event recording, virtual arm and disarm, maps and identity management.
- AI Pro fits teams that investigate often and want AI Visual Search to find footage by description.
Since an account runs on one tier, BTI looks at your busiest use case across all locations before recommending.
What does OpenEye licensing cost?
OpenEye does not publish OWS subscription prices, and BTI will not guess at them. Pricing is scoped to each client's needs: channel count, tier, add-ons and billing term all change the total. Request a quote and BTI will price the licenses with your cameras, recorders and installation in one proposal.

FAQs
Does BTI install OpenEye for homes?
No. BTI provides OpenEye licensing and installation for businesses and commercial properties only, not for residences.
How is OpenEye licensed?
OpenEye Web Services is licensed per recording channel, billed monthly or annually, according to OpenEye's licensing FAQs.
What are the OWS license tiers?
OpenEye offers Standard, Plus and AI Pro. AI Pro includes everything in Plus and adds AI Visual Search.
What is the difference between OWS Standard and Plus?
Plus layers on POS Connect, identity management, cloud maps, priority event recording to the cloud, virtual arming, advanced analytics and upgraded alerts, reports and management, with more clip storage and a year of POS history.
Can I mix license tiers across locations?
No. OpenEye requires an account to run on a single tier.
How much does an OpenEye license cost?
There is no public OWS price list. BTI quotes licenses alongside hardware and installation, based on your channel count and tier.
Do OpenEye cloud cameras need a license?
Yes. Cloud cameras run on OWS and need a subscription. Cloud camera clip storage is 0.5 GB on Standard and 1 GB on Plus and AI Pro.
Is POS Connect included?
POS Connect is included in the Plus and AI Pro tiers and is licensed per terminal.
When does OpenEye start billing a new license?
OpenEye's current policy is an installation grace period: the rest of the month of purchase plus the following month, before the first renewal is billed. OpenEye can change this policy.
What happens if an OWS subscription lapses?
According to OpenEye, the recorder keeps recording, but video is not accessible through OWS and features such as alerts, health reports and updates stop until the subscription is renewed. A recorder that cannot reach the cloud keeps full functionality for 30 days before switching to an expired state.
Does BTI manage OpenEye renewals?
Yes. BTI tracks renewal dates and channel counts and reviews your tier at each renewal.
