Built for organizations with more than one site
Running separate recorders and logins at every store, branch or campus is how footage gets missed. OWS puts every site under a single account, and OpenEye sets no limit on how many devices or locations an account can hold. Regional managers see only their sites, loss prevention sees all of them, and adding a location means adding it to the same account.
Security of the platform
- Outbound trusted connection. OWS connects out to the cloud, so no inbound ports are opened on your firewall.
- Single sign-on and multi-factor authentication reduce the risk of stray remote clients and shared passwords.
- Automatic software updates are pushed from the cloud as they release.
- Account activity history keeps a record of account actions for review.
- OpenEye's security program. OpenEye publishes how it secures the OWS platform on its cybersecurity page.

AI that saves review time
OWS AI Analytics tags people and vehicles so searches return events, not hours of footage. Attribute filters and similarity search help find the same person or vehicle across cameras. OpenEye's AI Visual Check add-on automates routine visual checks across sites for monitoring and operations teams, using a monthly allotment of credits.

Cloud cameras or recorders?
OWS works with OpenEye recorders, OpenEye cloud cameras that record on board, and many third-party cameras through OpenEye appliances. Most multi-site clients end up with a mix. Our hybrid cloud video page explains how BTI chooses, and the hardware is listed on the cameras and servers and recorders pages.
How BTI rolls out OWS
- Site assessment: camera inventory, network checks and bandwidth review at each location
- Account design: one OWS account structure with locations, user groups and permissions
- Installation: cameras and recorders installed, registered to OWS and tested
- Alerts and health: alert rules set so the right person hears about the right event
- Training: your staff learn search, export and sharing in the web, desktop and mobile clients
- Support: BTI responds to health alerts and service needs, and adds sites as you grow
Pricing is scoped to each client's needs. OpenEye does not publish OWS subscription prices, so BTI quotes the license tier and channel count with your hardware and labor. Request a quote through the consultation form.
Monitoring with OWS
OWS alerts can feed remote video monitoring by BTI staff and BTI's central stations. Video verification helps police prioritize the call. For the wider cloud options BTI offers beyond OpenEye, see cloud video surveillance.

FAQs
Does BTI install OpenEye for homes?
No. Our OWS deployments are strictly commercial: companies, offices, stores and other business sites. We do not take residential work.
What is OpenEye Web Services?
OpenEye Web Services (OWS) is OpenEye's cloud video platform. It manages cameras, recorders, users, alerts, search and video sharing for every location in one account.
Is OWS the same as ows.openeye.net?
ows.openeye.net is where existing users sign in to OWS. If you need help with an account BTI installed, call your BTI office rather than OpenEye's general line.
Does OWS store video in the cloud?
OWS is cloud managed. Video records locally on OpenEye recorders or on board in OpenEye cloud cameras, and clips can be saved and shared in the cloud. Clip storage per recorder or camera varies by license tier.
Does OWS require port forwarding?
No. OpenEye says OWS uses an outbound trusted connection, so no inbound ports need to be opened.
Can I view OpenEye video on my phone?
Yes. The OpenEye mobile app for iOS and Android shows live video, push alerts with event clips and smart search.
How many locations can one OWS account hold?
OpenEye states there is no limit on the number of devices or locations associated with an OWS account.
What AI features does OWS include?
Intelligent search powered by OWS AI Analytics is included in Standard and Plus licenses. AI Visual Search requires AI Pro. AI Visual Check and Location LPR are add-ons.
Is OWS secure?
OWS supports multi-factor authentication, single sign-on and automatic updates, and it connects out to the cloud so no inbound firewall ports are opened. OpenEye describes its platform security on its cybersecurity page.
How much does OWS cost?
OpenEye does not publish OWS prices. Subscriptions are billed per channel, monthly or annually. BTI quotes the tier and channel count for your sites.
Can BTI connect OWS to Alarm.com?
Yes. OWS integrates with Alarm.com access control and intrusion. See our Alarm.com for business page.
