What OpenEye is
OpenEye is an Alarm.com company based in Liberty Lake, Washington. It builds commercial security cameras, recorders and a cloud video platform for organizations that run one building or hundreds of them. OpenEye reports more than 1 million devices connected to OWS, and its published case studies include national retailers, a grocery chain, a school district and a university (OpenEye case studies).
The platform has three layers, and each has its own page in this guide:
- Cloud management (OWS). View, search, share and manage video from a browser, the Command Station desktop client or the OpenEye mobile app. See OpenEye cloud video.
- Recording. Record locally on cloud-managed appliances and servers, record on board in OpenEye cloud cameras, or mix both. See hybrid cloud video and OpenEye servers and recorders.
- Cameras. NDAA compliant dome, bullet, turret, fisheye, PTZ and multisensor IP cameras, plus all-in-one cloud cameras. See OpenEye cameras.
Software and subscriptions are covered on the OpenEye VMS software and OpenEye licensing pages.

Why businesses choose OpenEye
- Every location in one account. OpenEye places no limit on the number of devices or locations tied to an OWS account, so a new store, clinic or warehouse joins the same login.
- Faster investigations. Intelligent search and AI Visual Search (on the AI Pro license) find people and vehicles by description instead of scrubbing hours of footage.
- Keep working cameras. OpenEye retrofit appliances bring compatible cameras you already own into OWS.
- No open inbound ports. OWS uses an outbound trusted connection, so remote viewing does not require port forwarding through your firewall.
- Health alerts on every license. OWS warns you about failing drives, offline cameras and changes in retention before an incident exposes the gap.
- Long hardware coverage. OpenEye's warranty page lists 5 years on recorders and fixed cameras sold from October 1, 2025 (OpenEye warranty).

What BTI does on an OpenEye project
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Quote | Camera counts, recorder sizing, OWS license tier and labor in one written proposal |
| Design | Camera placement, lens and resolution choices, storage and retention math, network and PoE planning |
| Sales | Authorized OpenEye hardware and OWS subscriptions through BTI |
| Installation | Licensed BTI technicians mount, cable, configure and test every camera and recorder |
| Licensing | OWS tier selection per account, add-ons where they pay for themselves, renewals tracked |
| Monitoring | Optional remote video monitoring by BTI |
| Service and support | Health alert response, repairs, firmware and expansion as you add locations |
Pricing is scoped to each client's needs. OpenEye does not publish list prices for hardware or OWS subscriptions, so every BTI proposal is a written quote for your sites. Request a quote through the consultation form and we will size it with you.
OpenEye and Alarm.com together
Because OpenEye is part of Alarm.com, OWS links video with Alarm.com access control and intrusion. A door event or alarm can open the matching video clip, and BTI can manage both from one relationship. See Alarm.com for business.

Monitoring and video verification
OpenEye video can feed professional monitoring. With remote video monitoring, BTI operators review the clip when an alarm or analytic triggers. Video verification helps police prioritize the call. Read how verified alarms work in our CHeKT visual alarm guide. Whether a given site connects to monitoring is confirmed during the site assessment.
See OpenEye before you decide
BTI shows OpenEye on request. The walkthrough can cover multi-site dashboards, cloud video management and AI search. Ask for it in the consultation form and tell us how many locations you run.
OpenEye in Los Angeles
From Long Beach ports to Burbank studios and Inland Empire warehouses, Southern California businesses spread across a lot of freeway. OWS lets a regional manager review every site without the drive. Our Los Angeles team installs OpenEye across LA and Orange counties. Call 562-298-5070 or see IP camera systems in Los Angeles.
OpenEye in Chicago
Chicagoland operators deal with winter weather, dense retail corridors and suburban distribution parks. OpenEye's IP67 and IK10 outdoor models fit those exteriors, and our Chicago team designs and installs across the city and suburbs. Call 630-343-1322. More on IP camera systems in Chicago.
OpenEye in the Phoenix area
Desert heat is hard on outdoor gear, so we check each camera's rated operating temperature against the mounting location. Our Phoenix area team designs, installs and supports OpenEye across the Valley. Call 480-291-8374. Details: IP camera systems in the Phoenix area.
