Cybersecurity Upgrade Projects: MFA, EDR, Email and Network Security, Deployed on One Plan
When an insurer questionnaire, a customer audit or a near miss says your defenses are behind, you need the controls installed, not another report. BTI deploys endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, identity and email security and network security improvements as one project, tested and documented, with ongoing monitoring as your choice afterward.

What a cybersecurity upgrade project can include
Most businesses do not need every control at once. BTI value engineers the scope at no charge, keeps the tools that still work and fills the gaps in the order that reduces the most risk.
Endpoint protection and EDR rollout
Deployment of endpoint detection and response to laptops, desktops and servers, removal of the old antivirus, policy tuning and a coverage report so an unprotected device stands out. Product details: endpoint protection.
Multifactor authentication
MFA for email, remote access and every admin account, with legacy sign-in methods that skip MFA blocked. Staff enrollment is scheduled and supported so nobody is stuck at a sign-in screen.
Identity security
Conditional access rules in Microsoft Entra ID, separate admin accounts, removal of standing local admin rights, device enrollment and encryption with Intune, and a clean-up of stale accounts. Ongoing management: identity, MFA and device security.
Email security
Inbound filtering for phishing and impersonation, plus SPF, DKIM and DMARC records rolled out in stages so legitimate mail keeps flowing while spoofing of your domain gets harder.
Network security improvements
Firewall policy review and clean-up, security subscriptions turned on, network segmentation for guests, cameras and servers, and remote access moved behind MFA. Hardware replacement runs through a network and firewall upgrade; design options are on network security.
Security monitoring onboarding
Connecting endpoints, firewalls and Microsoft 365 logs to a monitoring platform, setting alert rules and testing that alerts arrive. The project stops at go-live. Around-the-clock watching is part of managed SIEM and 24/7 MDR.

Signs it is time for a cybersecurity upgrade
- Your cyber insurance renewal asks about MFA, EDR or email security and the honest answer is "partly".
- A customer, lender or auditor sent a security questionnaire you cannot fully answer.
- Devices still run traditional antivirus only, or nobody can say which devices are protected.
- Staff sign in to email or remote access with a password alone.
- Admins use their everyday account for admin work, or former employees still have accounts.
- Your domain has no DMARC record, or vendors have reported fake invoices sent in your name.
- Guests, cameras, phones and servers all share one flat network.
- You just had a phishing incident or a near miss and want the gaps closed now.
How BTI runs a cybersecurity upgrade project
Free value engineering
We review your current tools, Microsoft 365 licensing, firewall, devices and email setup. You learn what you already own, what is missing and what can wait. A cybersecurity assessment can be added when you want a formal baseline.
Itemized plan
Each control is a line item with its own price, so you can phase the work. Best of breed tools are chosen for the job, not to fill a bundle.
Pilot
New agents and sign-in rules go to a small group first, usually IT and a few volunteers, to catch conflicts with line-of-business apps before everyone is affected.
Staged rollout
Rollout in waves, with staff told what to expect and when. Changes that can interrupt work are scheduled with you, often after hours.
Commissioning
We test that each control works: a sign-in without MFA is refused, a test detection reaches the console, DMARC reports arrive and blocked traffic between segments is really blocked.
Handoff
As-built documentation, coverage reports and a remaining-risk list, then a clear decision on who runs the tools from here.
A rollout order that avoids locking people out
Security projects fail when they surprise people. BTI sequences the work so business keeps running:
- Emergency access first. Two protected emergency admin accounts are created and stored safely before any sign-in rule changes.
- Report-only before enforce. Conditional access rules run in report-only mode first, so we can see who would be blocked and fix it.
- Email in stages. DMARC starts in monitoring mode, then moves to quarantine and reject once every legitimate sender, such as your billing system, is authorized.
- Old and new side by side. The old antivirus is removed only after the new agent reports healthy on the same device.
- Help on enrollment day. Staff enroll in MFA with support available the same day.
What drives the cost of a cybersecurity upgrade
- Number of users, mailboxes, laptops, desktops and servers.
- Security features you already own in Microsoft 365 versus licenses you need to add.
- Number of email domains and outside services that send mail as your domain.
- Number of sites, firewalls and remote access methods.
- Whether the project includes onboarding to ongoing monitoring.
- How much documentation your insurer, customers or auditors expect.
Pricing is itemized, so you see what each control costs. Related projects often run alongside: Windows 11 and PC refresh, Microsoft 365 migration and multi-location rollouts, where the same security standard goes to every site.
Finance the whole cybersecurity upgrade
BTI can arrange 3.99% financing for 100% of the project, including equipment, labor and consulting, for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval. Many bank loans run 10% or more and ask for far more collateral. BTI financing is secured only by the new equipment itself.

Frequently asked questions
What is a cybersecurity upgrade project?
A defined engagement that installs or replaces security controls, such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), multifactor authentication, conditional access, email security and firewall policy, with a fixed scope, a rollout plan and a finish line. It ends with testing and documentation. Ongoing monitoring is a separate choice.
How is this different from managed cybersecurity?
A project deploys and commissions the controls. Managed cybersecurity keeps watching them every day after that. BTI can do both, but you can hire BTI for the project alone and decide later whether your team, BTI, or both run it.
Do we need a managed IT or security contract to hire BTI for this?
No. BTI delivers cybersecurity upgrade projects for businesses with their own IT staff, with another provider, or with no IT team at all. The scope and the handoff are written down before work starts.
Will turning on MFA lock people out?
Not if it is rolled out in order. BTI starts with a pilot group, creates protected emergency admin accounts, runs new sign-in rules in report-only mode first, and schedules enforcement with help desk coverage on the day staff are asked to enroll.
We already have antivirus. Why replace it with EDR?
Traditional antivirus looks for known bad files. EDR records what processes do on each device so suspicious behavior can be investigated and contained. Many cyber insurers now ask about EDR and MFA on renewal questionnaires.
Can you work with the Microsoft 365 licenses we already pay for?
Yes. BTI is a Microsoft Partner and reviews your current licensing first. Many businesses already own security features, such as conditional access or Intune, that were never turned on. BTI turns on what you own before recommending anything new.
How long does a cybersecurity upgrade take?
It depends on the number of users, devices, domains and sites. BTI gives you a dated plan after the free value engineering review. Phases are scheduled so the most important controls, usually MFA and endpoint protection, go in first.
What do we receive at the end of the project?
Coverage reports showing which devices and users are protected, a list of the policies that were configured, an admin account inventory, the DNS records that changed, a list of remaining risks and as-built documentation your team or insurer can use.
Who monitors the new tools after the project?
Your choice. Your IT team can run them, BTI can add 24/7 NOC/SOC monitoring through managed cybersecurity and managed SIEM, or you can split the work under co-managed IT.
Can we finance a cybersecurity upgrade project?
Yes. BTI can arrange 3.99% financing for 100% of the project, including equipment, labor and consulting, for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval.
