A planning reference for CIOs, IT directors and infrastructure architects: what changed in Cisco and Meraki in 2025-2026 (Wi-Fi 7, Smart Switches, Secure Routers, unified licensing and Cloud Control) and what to replace, by when, across every site.
Several popular Meraki models reach end of sale or end of support between now and 2027, while Wi-Fi 7 access points, Catalyst Smart Switches and Cisco 8000 Secure Routers can now all be managed in the Meraki dashboard under one family of unified licenses. This free guide shows multi-site organizations how to inventory every device against the end-of-life calendar, choose a licensing path before renewals and standardize new sites on current hardware.
MX100 support ends Feb 1, 2027 and MX64/MX64W on Jul 26, 2027. Plan replacements at least one budget cycle before the support date.
They remain supported until Dec 31, 2031. Wi-Fi 7 CW9172I and CW9176I are the typical replacements.
With active DNA licenses, the Cisco Cloud Entitlement for DNA covers Catalyst switches and APs in the Meraki dashboard until that date.
Cisco Networking Subscription combines Wireless, Switching and WAN licenses (Essentials or Advantage) with aligned renewal dates and included support, in cloud or on-premises mode.
CW917x access points support both dashboard and controller management. Validate client support, PoE budgets and uplinks first.
MV Gen 2 reached end of sale Dec 31, 2025 and is supported until Dec 31, 2030. MV Gen 3 adds up to 1 TB edge storage and NDAA and TAA compliance per Cisco.
Announced June 2, 2026 and in U.S. Controlled Availability at launch, it adds AI agents that work under human control. Require approval for agent-initiated changes and keep change logs.
Facts are taken from the guide, which cites dated sources (retrieved October 2026). Dates and product lifecycles change; confirm before ordering or filing. Not legal advice.

Oct 31, 2026. MX100 support ends Feb 1, 2027 and MX64 support ends Jul 26, 2027. Typical replacements are the MX85, MX95 and MX105, or Cisco 8000 Secure Routers with Meraki OS.
Yes. Catalyst 9200, 9300, 9500 and IE3500 switches can be cloud-managed, and C9350 Smart Switches support cloud or device configuration. With active DNA licenses, the Cloud Entitlement for DNA covers this until Feb 1, 2029.
For Wi-Fi and switching, devices keep passing traffic, but management and support are restricted. Align renewals before you reach that point.
For new deployments, Wi-Fi 7 (CW917x) is the current platform and supports both dashboard and controller management. Validate client support, PoE and uplinks first.
