Cisco Meraki Wireless Access Points FAQs
Do Meraki access points need a license?
Cisco Meraki wireless access points need a valid license to work properly. With an MR Enterprise license, you not only get access to the standard features, but you also enjoy the benefits of cloud management. Don't miss out on taking your network to the next level with Cisco Meraki!
What is an Access Point?
A wireless access point (WAP) is a networking device that lets wireless-capable devices seamlessly connect to your wired network allowing you to reduce the hassle of installation and embrace the convenience of wireless connectivity for all your computers and devices.
What’s the difference between wireless access points and wireless routers?
Routers are versatile devices that can provide both wired and wireless connectivity to multiple devices. On the other hand, Access Points (APs) are specifically designed to cater to wireless devices like phones, laptops, and tablets. In simple terms, an AP bridges the gap between a wired network and wireless devices, enabling seamless wireless capability.
What happens when your Meraki License Expires?
As an account administrator, you will receive helpful alerts and notifications about extending your license 30 days before it expires. BTI will also send you a reminder email before your account expires. To ensure you don't miss anything, a clear expiration banner will be displayed in the Meraki dashboard during this period.
