Ransomware is on the Rise
Ransomware is on the rise! According to RCC Group, the resurgence is being led by an old ransomware service group (RaaS).
Their information is gained by actively monitoring leak sites and scraping victim details as they are released. The criminal group behind the attacks is known as Lockbit and is considered the most prolific ransomware today. Just this past July, they claimed responsibility for 62 attacks.
Lockbit’s dark web website went down in August thanks to a DDos (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. It’s believed that this was performed by Entrust, one of the targeted companies. Ken Kadet, Vice President of Entrust, declined to respond to multiple emails sent prior to the criminal group
publication.
What Caused the Increase in Ransomware Attacks?
In May of 2022, the U.S. Government increased its efforts against Russian cybercrime by offering 15,000,000 for information about Conti, the most effective ransomware gang. The rise in attacks is the result of new modes of operation. Popular cybergangs, like HiveLeaks and BlackBasta, are groups created from the original ContiGroup. Now that Conti is split in two, it would be no surprise if we see a rise in ransomware attacks in the following months.

The Benefits of Outsourcing IT
Having an external IT team is beneficial for most companies. Here at BTI, multiple companies are choosing us to take care of their complete IT infrastructure!
Hiring an onsite IT team to manage your full security services is very costly. IT is a specialized industry, meaning you’ll most likely have to pay multiple technicians to manage each area of your company. This includes desktop support, cybersecurity, and firewalls/servers. That is why most companies decide to use the IT consultant approach, but this too can have its downfalls.
The Downsides of the Consultant Approach
Your consultant could be the best technician in the world, but you must remember they are a human and need to rest, take a vacation, and gets sick just like everyone else. Unfortunately, your
IT infrastructure needs to operate 24/7 all year long. A single salary of a specialized IT consultant only covers 8 hours a day for your company. To have a safe and functional IT infrastructure you would need to have at least 3 onsite IT technicians. They must be experts in all the areas of IT technology that your company needs.
The Benefits of Outsourcing IT
A current client of ours utilized an IT consultant but soon realized the downside when needing the expertise to reinforce their IT security as their company deals mostly with digital assets. They decided to contract BTI for their full-time IT team.
BTI took care of every security aspect of their IT infrastructure including firewalls, server security, ransomware protection, monitoring file access, software, and more. At one point in our relationship, the company experienced a break in and unfortunately, the trespasser destroyed their IT infrastructure.
To solve their problem and get their business running as soon as possible, BTI conducted an evaluation of all their systems. We decided to reinstall their previous equipment and add new software with 24/7 monitoring. We were able to do all of this for a fraction of the cost of having a full IT team onsite.
Four years have passed and our relationship with our client is better than ever. BTI has a full team of specialized experts that can cover all your IT company needs for a fraction of the price. Stop paying ridiculous amounts of money for IT support! Contact us now and discover all the benefits of working with BTI!
